It’s really nice to be surrounded by creative people, and Whitechapel, the community that Warren Ellis has built around his webcomic Freakangels is a real hive of creativity. I first became aware of Ian Gil through a thread that gave people a chance to show off their work. It was one of his ’stories that go nowhere’ and was a trippy looking piece about the band Acid Mother’s Temple. The above drawing in pen and marker went up a day or so ago and I fell in love with it, decided to check out his livejournal, and found sad dog and a whole host of other things. There is some great work there: a mixture of photographs, cartoon strips and wonderful art like the piece above. It would definitely be worth your time to leap over there and check it out.
